Charles McGee from new member institution Black Parent Initiative electrified the assembly when he announced that "all pastors and leaders in Black Parent Initiative Churches will attend MACG's leadership institutes." Black Parent Initiative is an innovative effort to organize African-American families through their congregations to eliminate the achievement gap in Portland Public Schools and also develop the leadership and power necessary to act on other issues affecting African-American families.
