Learning About Mental Health Resources

Washington County research action team learns about mental health resources for Latinos in Washington County.

On Tuesday night, twenty-five people gathered at Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Beaverton to meet with Erin Jolly. Erin is a senior program coordinator in the Health Equity, Planning and Policy Program at Washington County Public Health. She coordinates community health improvement planning, performance management, quality improvement, accreditation, and the school based health center program.

During the meeting, MACG members asked questions about the current mental health resources available for the Latino community, particularly the youth.  MACG members also shared their own personal stories related to the mental health issues present in their communities. Erin shared what is currently available, as well as her suggestions for the gaps in care that a future MACG campaign may be able to address. She also gave leads for future meetings with key players in Washington County mental health programs. The Washington County Immigration Team thanks Erin for her time and expertise and Alex Bautista, MACG organizer for providing simultaneous translation in Spanish.
