MACG Impact Report
(Re)building the Vision

It’s been an exciting year of growth! We started our fiscal year last July with a goal of raising $50,000. Thanks to your generous donations, increased member dues, and key grants, we raised twice that amount—over $100,000!
Because of this incredible support, MACG ended the year financially healthy and in the black.
Expanding Our Staff Capacity
Even more exciting: as of January 1, we were able to increase our organizer and sole paid staff position from part-time to full-time! This milestone greatly expands our community's capacity for leadership development and grassroots civic action.
Rebuilding post-pandemic has taken dedicated, sustained investment into the vision of vibrant civic engagement in our community. A big THANK YOU!! to everyone who contributed to making this vision a reality.
Growing the Alliance: Welcome, Teamsters Local 223!
In January, we welcomed our newest member, Teamsters Local 223. Since 1938, they have proudly represented office personnel, medical and technical staff, law enforcement agencies, and public works departments across Oregon and Washington. With offices in Gladstone, Teamsters brings approximately 2,500 new members into our alliance, vastly expanding our collective power for the common good.
Two Teamsters traveled to Spokane this June to attend the advanced 5-day IAF Pacific training intensive—a transformational investment in growing their organizing skills that they now bring back home to our alliance.

Training New Civic Leaders
"Before MACG, I felt scared of being a community leader. Then, MACG helped me embrace my own power and become the leader I always was." — Training Participant
Leadership development is the beating heart of our work. To create lasting, community-driven change, we must equip neighbors with real organizing skills. This past year, MACG trained 60 unique civic leaders, with many investing in their growth by attending multiple levels of training.

Delegate Assemblies!
A few times a year, alliance members and guests gather together to demonstrate our unity and plot our collective course. We held two powerful assemblies this past year to anchor our work:
- September 21: Over 100 delegates gathered in a shared English/Spanish space, making formal, public commitments to back our active action teams.
-
April 19: 60 delegates voted unanimously to stay the course on our current issue work and continue building strategic institutional power across the region.

Issue Work: Collective Power in Action
Leaders Acting for Dignity (Immigrant Safety)
Our bilingual (English/Spanish) team relies on 15 core leaders to drive grassroots change.
-
The November Convening: Brought 50 faith, union, and nonprofit leaders together to share stories and resources regarding immigrant safety concerns.
-
District Organizing: The team engaged in district organizing to build institutional power ahead of the 2026 legislative session
-
Legislative Advocacy: In 2026, leaders from this team advocated on behalf of SJR 203, a proposed constitutional amendment banning face masks and requiring identification for law enforcement in Oregon. While the legislation died in committee, our leaders learned the legislative process inside out and built relationships with state legislators, strengthening the power of the alliance.
-
Looking Ahead: The team is now focused on strengthening relationships and listening for potential future actions, including plans for a community listening event this summer for Spanish-speakers.
Healthcare Access Team
Our nine dedicated healthcare leaders are actively developing a community response to the primary care provider shortage.
The Strategy: After consulting with providers, nonprofit professionals, legislators, and other stakeholders, the team initially focused on prior authorization reform. Inspired by recent groundbreaking legislation in Massachusetts eliminating prior authorizations for essential care, our team is now zeroing in on potential pathways to enact similar healthcare reform right here in Oregon.
Take Action! The team will hold its first Civic Academy to dive deep into this issue. Space is limited, so please register early.

Invest in MACG!
June 30 marks the end of MACG's fiscal year—a powerful time to reflect on where we’ve been and share where we are heading next. It’s been an incredible year of growth, and our momentum is actively drawing new leaders into the work.
To sustain this powerful momentum, our board voted this month to keep our organizer’s position full-time. This means we are intentionally running a deficit budget to prioritize our alliance’s strategic growth over playing it safe.
MACG relies on the inspired generosity of individual donors to meet our expenses and provide our staff with the resources they need on the ground. If you are able, please consider making a financial investment to help us bridge this gap and continue building collective power.
