Build Collective Power: MACG Foundations of Community Organizing Training

This immersive, two-part training equips you with the concrete, time-tested tools needed to analyze local power structures, uncover shared public issues, and lead effective actions in the Portland-Metro area. Whether you want to fix local housing issues, advocate for workers, or strengthen your own organization, this hands-on workshop turns passive supporters into strategic leaders.

What you will learn:

  • Relational Meetings: How to conduct intentional 1-on-1 conversations that uncover shared community pressures.
  • Power Analysis: Tools to map local decision-makers and find out who holds the keys to systemic change.
  • Strategic Action: Methods to cut broad problems into winnable issues and build realistic public campaigns.
  • Public Narrative: Techniques to tell your personal story in a way that moves others to collective action.

  • MACG Member Institutions: Free (Includes members of all MACG partner congregations, unions, and non-profits).
  • Non-Members: $100 per person (Sliding scale/scholarships available upon request).
