Andrea Valderrama, House District 47, inviting her constituents to a forum at REAP USA, a youth organization located at 10808 NE Halsey St. Portland, OR 97220. This is a great opportunity for MACG to attend, show support, and learn.
In addition to Representative Valderrama, the forum has expanded to include Rep Hoa Nguyen of District 48 adjacent to 47 South and East, and State Senator Kayse Jama, Sen District 24.
This as an opportunity to get MACG Members, Institutions, and Leaders in-front of local politicians and decision makers as a way to start building relationships. This also allows for MACG Members, Intuitions, and Leaders to learn more about how this massive system works. Here is great resource to learn about Oregon State Legislature. Topics include how to testify, how to submit testimony, finding bills, and videos of previous and upcoming events. While it isn't necessary that those coming be in the districts sponsoring the meeting, it is valuable to show our leadership in districts. Legislators are more accountable to people who elect them.
This small local action for MACG is for the purposes of learning, relating, and reflecting on public life. MACG is an alliance of faith, labor, health education and community organizations dedicated to building a base of everyday civic leaders to effectively stand for change they want to see in their communities. We organize people power to create a better Tri-County region for all.
Pastor Joel from Resurrection Lutheran and Terry Moe have invited leaders from the newly formed Core Vision Team to attend. If you are interested in learning more about the Core Vision Team, please reach out to Pastor Joel at [email protected]. Dr Richard Bruno from Central City Concern is also confirmed to attend. Dr. Bruno has invited their new public policy representative, Brooke Goldberg to attend.
Pastor Joel and Terry will be meeting with Leaders prior to the forum at Joeseph's Cafe located at 10812 NE Weidler, Portland OR 97220 (next door to REAP). The pre-meeting will be at 5:30pm, after the forum there will be time for evaluation and discussion back Joseph's Cafe from 7:30-8:00pm.
We hope you can make it to see these powerful sessions in action.
