Civic Academy: Primary Care Provider Shortage

It’s time to take action!

Across the Portland region, too many people are struggling to find timely access to a primary care provider. Families are waiting months for appointments, relying on urgent care, or going without care altogether. After a year of deep research, the MACG Healthcare Access Team is launching a concrete, winnable campaign to tackle a key driver of this crisis: eliminating prior authorization for primary care in Oregon. Massachusetts just got this done, and we have a strategic plan to achieve the same victory here.

Join us for an interactive, participatory program designed to build our collective power, encourage dialogue, and craft this bold campaign from the ground up.

What to Expect

This academy is an opportunity to learn together, hear real stories, and build momentum for meaningful community change. We will:
  • Hear Team Insights: Review research and findings from MACG leaders who have spent a year studying the issue.
  • Listen to Expert & Personal Stories: Hear testimonies from community members directly impacted by the lack of care, alongside healthcare expert perspectives.
  • Shape Campaign Strategy: Share your own experiences, discuss practical policy solutions, and map out community-driven action steps.

All are welcome. RSVP today to help create real change in the Oregon healthcare landscape.
