Civic Academy: Patients Over Paperwork

It’s time to take action!

Across the Portland region, too many people are struggling to find timely access to a primary care provider. Families are waiting months for appointments, relying on urgent care, or going without care altogether. After a year of deep research, the MACG Healthcare Access Team joined with allies in the Oregon Care First Coalition to submit legislation tackling a key driver of this crisis by eliminating prior authorization for primary care in Oregon. Massachusetts just got this done, and we have a strategic plan to achieve the same victory here.

At our July Civic Academy we were in Phase One, crafting legislation.  Now we are in Phase Two, the legislative concept has been submitted and it's time to build the people power needed to get it passed in 2027.  Come to hear our plan, ask questions of team members, and get involved!
